This AKG C430 microphone performs best for cymbal and overhead applications. For example, capturing an overall sound above a drum kit or a choir. This microphone is also often used to record audience reactions at competitions or TV performances.

What else do I need besides the microphone to be able to use it?

This microphone needs to be attached to a microphone stand. This is not included in the microphone rental but can be added as an extra. See the ‘extras’ options at the top of this page. The microphone clip is included in the rental of the AKG C430. In addition to the microphone stand, you need a sound system and mixer with phantom power. This microphone requires phantom power to be used.

What is phantom power and why is it necessary?

Phantom power is power that is sent to the microphone via the sound mixer. The microphone needs this to amplify sufficiently. Keep in mind that not all audio mixers provide phantom power and that it needs to be turned on separately. If you want to know more about this, please contact one of our staff members.

How do I connect the AKG C430?

Use a microphone cable or XLR cable. Click this into the bottom of the microphone and the other end into the microphone input of an audio mixer. The microphone needs phantom power, turn this on on the mixing console. Keep in mind that the microphone cable is not included in the rental.
