Description
Want to rent a translation set with interpreter booth? Translation set 1 is a translation equipment package for conferences, congresses, forums, and other events. Suitable for translating 1 language. Read more below about translation technology, the interpreter booth, and the technology behind it. Additionally, there’s more information about adding languages and receivers, and what’s included in the translation set.
What is simultaneous translation technology and how does it work?
Globalization is an excellent way for many companies to create a larger market or to share knowledge with others and use them as sparring partners to gain better insights. English is often spoken mutually, but what if not every participant at a congress or conference is proficient in this language? The solution lies in simultaneous interpretation. Here, the spoken word is immediately translated by an interpreter, allowing the presentation to be followed in another language.
It works as follows. On stage, the speaker uses a microphone which is typically used to amplify the audio for the guests in the hall. However, we use the audio picked up by the microphone to send to the interpreter booth. In the interpreter booth, the interpreter speaks the translation into the microphone on the interpreter console. This translation is wirelessly sent to users with a receiver, after which these individuals can hear the interpreter’s translation via the headset. This way, they follow the presentation in a different language.
What’s Included in This Translation Equipment Set?
This translation technology set is suitable for performing 1 translation. This means that the necessary technology is included to translate the spoken language into one other language. For example, if the presentation is given in English and you have many French guests who can’t follow it well, this set includes the interpreter booth and translation technology for following the presentation(s) in French, for instance.
This set includes, among other things, one interpreter booth. This interpreter booth provides space for two interpreters. This way, they can alternate without interrupting the translation. The interpreter booth is equipped with two interpreter consoles. With these, both interpreters have full control over the volume, sound, and turning the microphone on or off. Furthermore, all necessary transmitter(s) (assuming an ideal space) and a starting number of 25 headsets with receivers are included.
How Do I Determine the Number of Languages Needed?
That’s sometimes very simple and sometimes quite challenging. For example, if you have an audience from one specific country, you can quickly determine which language these guests want to hear. Do you have an audience from all over the world where different languages are spoken? Then it’s wise to inventory in advance which language the participants would like to follow presentations in. This way, you can effectively determine the number of translations needed. This set currently assumes one translation, but there could be many more. For that, also check our complete set for 2 languages or 3 languages.
How Do I Determine the Number of Receivers Needed?
This varies per event. There is no standard for this. If you don’t know how many of your participants need to follow the presentation in another language, then choose as many receivers as there are participants at the congress. This way, you have a receiver with headset available for each participant. However, it would also mean that none of your guests sufficiently understand the speaker’s language, and with this, you might actually be better off looking for a different speaker. Often, the number of receivers ordered is therefore lower than the total number of participants in the hall.
How Does Connecting This Translation Equipment to an Audio System Work?
To ensure that the interpreters can follow the presentations well, it’s necessary that we get a ‘tap’ with a mix of all microphones used during the event. Your audiovisual supplier can certainly help you with this. We take care of the rest.
If you don’t yet have an audiovisual supplier that provides all the technology for your event, we can of course excellently help with this. Please don’t hesitate to contact us for an introduction.
Are the interpreters included?
No, unfortunately, these are not included. We cannot organize them for you either. This is because many fields use specific terminology. Therefore, it’s not possible for an interpreter to translate a presentation word for word. You need to have knowledge of certain terms, abbreviations, and words. You will have to organize the interpreters yourself. We take care of the technical aspects for you.
What is the difference between a translation equipment set and a whisper set?
To a layperson, these products might seem similar, but they have completely different applications. Whisper sets are ideal for small-scale applications, while translation technology is more suitable for congresses, conferences, and seminars. When using a whisper set, the interpreter needs to be able to hear the speaker without amplification. That’s why they often stand among the audience. They then ‘whisper’ the translation into the microphone so that it can be heard in another language.
As mentioned earlier, with translation technology, the interpreters are in an interpreter booth. This way, no one is bothered by the spoken translation. Translation technology also uses higher quality (and more complex) equipment. The advantage is that our technicians can monitor, set up, and adjust many aspects. This allows us to tailor the technology to the space, ensuring good sound quality.
Can I rent this translation set and set it up and dismantle it myself?
Not really. The technical aspect of such a setup is so extensive that you really need to know what you’re doing and how this technology works. Without specific knowledge of this equipment, it’s impossible to get this system up and running. This is why we only rent these materials in combination with setup and dismantling. You cannot rent an interpreter booth without setup and dismantling.
Does a translation technician need to remain present at the event?
This is not strictly necessary, but many clients do choose this option. In principle, the translation technology can run standalone. However, at larger events with multiple suppliers, it simply happens too often that someone (accidentally) unplugs something. Then it’s good to have someone with knowledge of this technology present to quickly solve any problems. You can always communicate directly. Do you want to be completely relieved of worry for the entire event? Then contact our event production branch, AV Supplier B.V.
