Description
Rent a Harting Break-Out? Harting has been around in the audiovisual sector for quite some time. In the past, this type of cable was used to control analog incandescent and halogen lamps. However, with the advent of LED lighting, the application for Harting changed. Nowadays, it is mostly used as cabling for transporting multiple power groups over a single cable. Harting offers the possibility to transport up to 8 groups over one cable.
How do I use the Harting Break-Out?
Harting is great, but you’re probably wondering how to connect equipment to it? Directly, that’s indeed not possible, because your plug simply doesn’t fit anywhere. This is the reason for using a break-out. It converts the power in the Harting cable into separate power groups with a ‘normal’ Schuko connection. You connect this break-out quite simply to your Harting cable. Insert the female connector of your Harting cable into the male connection on the break-out. Close the safety clips and the Harting cable is secured. Now there’s power on the Schuko outputs and you can connect equipment according to your preference.
What should I pay attention to when using this Harting Break-Out?
Harting dates back to a time before the internet existed. Global standardization was not yet really on the agenda. As a result, different standards emerged regarding the connection of pins on Harting break-ins and outs. In the Netherlands, a pin assignment of 1 + 2 was generally used. This means that pin 1 and pin 2 together form a power group. Internationally, however, a pin assignment of 1 + 9 was more often used. Also known as the French/Belgian standard. Our Harting is based on this international standard. Do not combine this with other pin assignments to prevent damage to equipment.
