How do I use the XLR Adapter XLR 3P (Female) to XLR 5P (Male)?

Most fixtures are equipped with 5-pin DMX connections, but it’s still common for older fixtures to have a 3-pin connection. If your DMX infrastructure is built with 3-pin cables, you can use this XLR adapter to include a fixture with a 5-pin connection in your DMX line. Note that such a light can only be connected at the end of the line. This adapter can also be used in reverse.

In that case, you assume that the DMX infrastructure is set up with 3-pin cables and you want to add a number of fixtures with 5-pin connections. You can insert the 3-pin side of the adapter into the output of a fixture with a 3-pin connection, after which the 5-pin side of the adapter allows you to continue the DMX line with 5-pin cables.
