When is a UTP Switch Needed?

The 5-Port Switch is primarily used in combination with a DJ set from Pioneer. Pioneer has its own protocol for reading the music database on the DJ’s USB stick. The players can be connected using a UTP cable. However, the players only have one UTP port. If you want to use multiple players in a DJ set, you’ll need a UTP switch. With this data switch, you can connect up to 4 players. This makes it possible to load music tracks onto all players of the DJ set using just one USB stick.

Can I Also Connect a DJ Mixer with the 5-Port UTP Switch?

Pioneer DJ mixers are equipped with various effects. These effects can be adjusted to the tempo of the track currently playing. You can manually adjust the tempo with the ‘Tap’ button on the mixer, but it’s also possible for the mixer to do this automatically. To achieve this, the mixer and player(s) need to be able to communicate. This is done via the UTP cable.

All Pioneer devices have only one UTP port. So if you need to connect more than two devices, you’ll need this UTP Switch. In combination with the CDJ-3000, it’s also possible to use the ‘on-air’ functionality. This gives the jog wheel a red ring when this player is being broadcast.
