Sometimes one headphone output is simply not enough. For example, at an exhibition where you want multiple visitors to listen to one audio fragment in a room where silence is desired. With a headphone preamplifier you can connect multiple headphones to the same audio source. In addition, you can connect an external sound source and choose which headphones hear what per channel.
