When you compare them to a real soft panel, these lights are quite compact. This doesn’t mean they can’t be used as soft panels, but due to their size, they can also serve a decorative role. This greatly expands the possibilities of the HydraPanel, and this versatility is very useful nowadays. We’ll tell you more about this versatility of the fixture later on.

What are the features of the Astera HydraPanel?

This topic needs no further explanation if you’re already familiar with Astera lamps. All Astera fixtures have the same basic functionalities. Although the function of the fixture and its accessories may differ, you can be sure of a few things with a lamp from the German company Astera. Of course, we’re talking about the built-in battery. The Astera fixtures, including this HydraPanel set, can function for up to 20 hours continuously on battery power (if set accordingly). Since the battery functionality only comes into its own during completely wireless use, the control of these fixtures is also entirely wireless.

You can set an Astera HydraPanel to a fixed colour or white value using the included remote control, but by adding an AsteraBox, you can send all kinds of cues, chases, and programs to the lamp. You can also use the AsteraBox as a wireless DMX transmitter. It’s also no problem to use the HydraPanel set outdoors. These fixtures are splash-proof and can withstand a rain shower just fine.

What rigging accessories will I find in this set?

To make the Astera HydraPanel as flexible as possible to use, each set of 4 pieces comes with a number of accessories. In the case, you’ll find 4 Astera FlexBases. You can use these to place individual HydraPanels on top of something. However, the FlexBase also functions as a mount to screw into something. In this capacity, you can also use it to hang the HydraPanel.

You’ll also find 3 ConnectorPlates in the case. With this accessory, you can link multiple Astera HydraPanels together. Ideal when you need more output. You can connect up to 4 HydraPanels together. The case also includes 4 BabyPins. You can use these to mount a HydraPanel on a stand or to connect it to a Manfrotto SuperClamp. You can also mount these BabyPins on the ConnectorPlate when you’re linking multiple HydraPanels together.

Does the set also come with filters and diffusers?

The Astera HydraPanel couldn’t be left behind, of course. If all other Astera fixtures come with diffusers and filters to adjust the light beam as desired, then so does the HydraPanel. This set comes with no less than 6 types of diffusers, honeycombs, and filter holders to fully customize the light from the soft panel.
