Description
Want to precisely illuminate a person or object? This Infinity LED profile spotlight is highly suitable for accurately lighting up individuals or objects. What are the added values of a profile spotlight compared to other theater spotlights? We certainly understand this question. This profile spotlight has a significant added value compared to the widely known fresnel theater spotlight. At larger conferences and presentations, they can’t do without each other. They both have separate functions and purposes but support each other in creating a complete picture.
What is the difference between a profile spotlight and a fresnel?
To properly understand what a profile spotlight can specifically do, it’s good to first describe its ‘family’. There’s the fresnel. Its purpose is to provide even lighting over a larger surface area. These lamps are equipped with a zoom function, but you can’t focus the beam sharply. The light beam will always have soft edges. To adjust the beam, there are shutters that allow you to roughly frame where the light should and shouldn’t go.
A profile spotlight is specifically meant for highlighting a particular object, surface, or person. Like the fresnel, the profile spotlight also has a zoom function, which allows you to make the beam angle larger or smaller.
What does the focus function on the profile spotlight do?
A major difference is, for example, the focus. With the built-in lenses in the profile spotlight, you can perfectly focus the beam. By moving the lens forward or backward, the light beam focuses. This creates a perfectly sharp edge, and you can see exactly where the light does and doesn’t reach. This doesn’t necessarily mean you always have to focus the beam sharply. Often enough, beams are deliberately defocused to create a certain effect.
What do the ‘blades’ in a profile spotlight do?
The profile spotlight also has four blades. These blades essentially cut into the light beam, allowing you to precisely illuminate an object or person. Think of it this way: A light beam is naturally perfectly round, but if you want to illuminate a square painting, you’d have a lot of spill light around the painting. Using these blades, you can precisely ‘cut out’ the painting, so that light only falls on the painting itself and not around it.
What is the iris of a profile spotlight?
Furthermore, the profile spotlight also has an iris. You can compare this to the aperture in a camera. Using the iris, you can make the beam smaller. The diameter of the beam decreases, but of course remains round. The iris doesn’t change the set focus, as described above. The iris essentially ‘squints’, blocking part of the light. By blocking part of the light, the light output on the object to be illuminated is naturally somewhat reduced.
What is the light source of this profile spotlight?
Unlike old-fashioned fixtures, this profile spotlight doesn’t use an old-fashioned halogen light source, but LED. This not only provides advantages in terms of power consumption but also in terms of speed. This LED profile spotlight has a complete menu where settings can be adjusted. Through this menu, you can quickly and easily adjust settings for the dimmer, DMX modes, and for example, the fan. The fixture also has a built-in power input and output and 3- and 5-pin inputs and outputs for DMX. Adding an old-fashioned dimmer rack and heavy harting cabling is thus a thing of the past.
The LED profile spotlight features a white LED source with a color temperature of 3200 Kelvin. With this warm white LED source, it’s perfect for illuminating people. They will look ‘healthy’ just like with a conventional profile spotlight. With a CRI value (colour accuracy) of no less than 96, you don’t have to worry about the deviation of the LED lighting. It’s almost 100% and thus indistinguishable from the real thing to the naked eye.
How do I mount this profile spotlight?
Generally, spotlights for illuminating the stage are attached to a truss, grid, or pipe system. This way, the spotlights hang high in the venue’s ceiling, so that speakers on the stage are not blinded by the lighting. If the lighting is mounted too low, the light shines into the eyes of the speakers, blinding them when looking towards the audience.
If there are no options for hanging the lighting at the location, they should be placed on stands. This way, you are not dependent on the possibilities at the location. The stand can be set up quickly and easily anywhere. Our stands consist of a compact square base plate with an elegant upright pole. This ensures that a profile on a stand does not look out of place in representative locations, such as a conference center or luxury meeting venue.
