Description
The LD Systems MON 8A G3 is a coaxial 8″ monitor speaker with a built-in amplifier. Ideal as a monitor for an artist, speaker, or DJ. The compact size of this LD Systems MON 8A G3 ensures that this speaker fits well anywhere. The speaker doesn’t stand out during presentations on stage and fits in almost any DJ booth. This, combined with the many connection options and presets, makes the MON 8A G3 very versatile.
What can I use this monitor speaker for?
This LD Systems MON 8A G3 is excellent for use at small to medium-sized events that require clear reproduction of speech or music. As this is only an 8″ sound monitor, it is compact and therefore doesn’t take up much space on a stage.
What does it mean that this speaker is coaxial?
A normal full-range or top speaker has the high driver mounted above the mid or low driver. In a coaxial speaker, the high driver is mounted in the center of the low or mid driver. This makes the sound more direct and improves the dispersion angle. Ideal for speakers where the speaker, artist, or DJ is at a short distance from the speaker.
Which preset should I use when I rent this LD Systems MON 8A G3?
Of course, the chosen preset is up to the user. You naturally get the best out of the speaker if you use the preset based on how you’re using the speaker. For example, you have ‘full-range’ when you use the speaker on a stand. Here, the low and high range is slightly boosted and the mid-range is slightly dampened. With the ‘flat’ preset, the speaker is as neutral as possible, ideal for when you’re not yet familiar with the speaker but want a neutral sound.
In the ‘Monitor’ preset, the low and highest high frequencies are slightly reduced. In ‘Monitor HPF’, the low frequencies start even later than in the ‘Monitor’ preset. With the EQ settings, Notch Gain, Notch Freq, and Delay, you can adjust the monitor speaker even more to your liking.
How do I connect this MON 8A G3 to my mixing console?
1. Place the LD Systems MON 8A G3 where you’re going to use it. That means, as a full-range speaker on a stand (not included). And as a monitor in the right place on the stage.
2. Connect the powerCON TRUE1 cable to the power connection of the speaker. Turn 90 degrees until you hear a ‘click’. Connect the other end to the power grid.
3. Use an XLR 3-pin cable (not included) or 6.3 Jack cable (not included) to connect to the output of your mixing console. Then connect this to the input of the LD Systems MON 8A G3.
4. Turn on the LD Systems MON 8A G3 and turn the volume knob to the desired volume.
5. Set the desired preset. Supplement this with desired EQ or delay settings if needed.
