Additionally, there are 50 receivers with earphones and lanyards for the audience or guests. On these receivers, guests can select the channel on which the tour guide, interpreter, or tour leader is broadcasting. This way, multiple systems can be used independently in different languages. Each group is assigned its own digital channel.

How does this whisper set work?

This tour guide system is a case with 50 receivers and 1 transmitter. It can be used throughout Europe thanks to the use of the 2.4 GHz ISM band. This makes it ideal for tourist activities and applications. Within a radius of 274 meters from the transmitter, there is clear voice transmission. When fully charged, the transmitters and receivers work for up to 16 hours on a single battery charge. People can use the provided earbuds, but due to the 3.5 mm headphone jack, they can also use their own headphones.

Can you also use this tour guide system for translation?

This tour guide system can also be used for whisper interpreting. Whisper interpreting is a variant of simultaneous interpreting. However, the interpreter is not in a separate booth but is present in the room itself. This can be useful if a small part of the audience cannot manage the language being spoken. In this situation, the presenter can give their presentation in a normal way. The interpreter will immediately translate the presentation – for a small part of the audience – via the headset microphone.

This part of the audience can listen to the translation via the wireless receivers with headphones, allowing them to still follow the presentation. This form of translation technique is only suitable for smaller groups or when a small group is not proficient in the language of instruction. A disadvantage of whisper interpreting is the constant whispering of the interpreter. An advantage is the significantly lower cost of the whisper set compared to a translation set.
