What is a camera riser and why is it necessary?

A camera riser is a platform on which a camera and/or camera operator stands. A camera is often placed behind or between the audience. To ensure that the camera has a clear field of view of the stage, an elevation is required. This elevation is called a camera riser.

Why are a camera operator and a camera never on the same platform?

A camera is always placed on its own platform in relation to the camera operator. This is done to prevent any vibrations that a camera operator transmits to the platform it is standing on from being transmitted to the camera.

What height camera riser do I need?

As a rule, the height of the camera riser is determined by the height of the stage. This is so that filming is never done at an angle.
