For which events can I use this moving head?

In principle, this Robe PAINTE moving head doesn’t have a special application. Due to its many possibilities, it’s more of an all-rounder. Despite its compact housing, this moving head still produces 15,200 lumens, making it certainly comparable to larger types from other brands. In terms of output, you can use this powerhouse for medium to large events. Its application is very diverse. From gala dinners to conferences and from corporate parties to trade shows.

Furthermore, this spot features a very quiet cooling mechanism specially developed for environments where such noise is undesirable. This includes TV or radio studios, film recordings, and other broadcast-related applications. For these applications too, the Robe PAINTE is therefore an excellent choice.

What light source can be found under the hood of the Robe PAINTE?

Under the hood of this moving head, you’ll find a 310-watt white light source with a color temperature of 6700K. This is the ‘HP engine’ or high-performance version. This engine ensures the highest light output and optimal color characteristics. Generally speaking, you’ll encounter this version most often. However, there are exceptions.

There are also Robe PAINTE units in circulation with a so-called ‘HCF engine’. This ‘high color fidelity’ version with a 6000K light source provides the best quality and rendering of colors. However, this reduces the output of the moving head, limiting its applicability more to use as front light and less as an effect. Keep this in mind when renting this moving head.

The Robe PAINTE is also available with a ‘TGW engine’ with a color temperature of 3200K. This ‘tungsten white’ module simulates the warmth of old-fashioned halogen lighting. Perfect for illuminating people on a stage. However, this comes with a penalty. This version delivers the lowest output in terms of light yield. Therefore, you rarely encounter this version in practice.

What can the optics of the Robe PAINTE do for me?

To adjust the light beam from this Robe PAINTE, this spot has numerous options that can be controlled remotely via DMX. For instance, this moving head has an electronic zoom range from 8° to 48° degrees. This makes this fixture perfect for short to medium distances. For focusing the light beam, you use the motorized focus. If you want to ‘pinch’ the beam, the iris is at your service. This works the same as a camera’s diaphragm. To add extra effects to your light show, you can also use the 8-facet prism or the 5° frost filter.

Additionally, the Robe PAINTE is equipped with 4 motorized ‘framing shutters’. Also known as ‘blades’. Yes, you heard that right. This moving head – just like a profile spot – is equipped with a set of blades. This makes it possible to ‘cut off’ the light beam. So you can easily use this moving head as an intelligent profile spot. Hanging in a truss above the stage for illuminating speakers or artists is perfectly fine. How fantastic! However, you can also create custom gobos with these framing shutters. Squares, rectangles, triangles, stripes, you name it. Moreover, because these framing shutters are electronically controllable, you can continuously change this shape. You’re essentially creating a dynamic gobo.

In what ways can I make the Robe PAINTE change color?

As you would expect from the Robe PAINTE moving head, the color range is also well taken care of. It doesn’t matter whether it’s about evenly lit surfaces or the smallest details. Thanks to the advanced CMY color mixing system, colors are available without limitations. This system uses three DMX channels for mixing the desired color, but there’s more. You can also use the fixed color wheel with 10 colors or virtual CTO channel to set or control the color temperature between 2700K and 6700K. The Robe PAINTE also features a virtual color wheel with no less than 64 pre-programmed colors.

What gobos does the Robe PAINTE have?
